All I know is I had a long sleeve shirt, a t-shirt, a hooded sweatshirt (up over my head with my ball cap over it), a microfleece jacket and gloves on. I didn't even unzip my outer jacket until about 3/4ths of a mile into it.

Anything under 80 and I'm shivering. Yes, I'm a cream puff, I gladly admit to that. Oh wait, I know, it was the business trip up to the Army's training grounds on the Big Island in January. It sits between Manua Kea and Mauna Loa. It was COLD, as in, gloves, winter jacket, the whole bit. See? There are cold places in Hawai'i. Of course once we left the moutains it was 83 in Kona, go figure. :)Malia Spencerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12499024480211211142noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-338415997021913227.post-84492448724900612482007-01-21T13:36:00.000-05:002007-01-21T13:36:00.000-05:00Wow, Jen! I think you'd have to pay for your rescue under that new law, wouldn't you? And "Fatman's Pass" is a funny name. We have one here that's called "Fatman's Loop." I'm claustrophobic too, so I totally understand--I may have even gone around.Georgiana Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08148430180111786272noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-338415997021913227.post-41240338345264892402007-01-21T00:12:00.000-05:002007-01-21T00:12:00.000-05:00Just so that not everyone is not picking on Jenn, ...Just so that not everyone is not picking on Jenn, I will come to her defense.
Once you have spent 2 or more years here in Phoenix, your thermostat gets reset. 80 is cool, 90 is warm, and it has to be well over 100 to be considered hot! So 42 is plenty COLD for us desert rats.
Our local paper is full of reports of visitors dropping like flies while hiking in our summer warmth. It (the heat) just kind of sneaks up on you and then smacks you across the head. Ahh ... but us desert rats can cope with heat. It is the cold (anything below 60) that gets us!Philhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17782199344931819124noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-338415997021913227.post-65053261340939463162007-01-20T23:49:00.000-05:002007-01-20T23:49:00.000-05:00Yikes and more yikes.
