Isn't this just the coolest thing?

Okay, I have a lot of other things to post about but it's been one of those weeks. In the meantime, drool over this, Apple's new iPhone. Now, it's waaaaaay out of my budget, but doesn't it just look so cool? It's almost like a mini Mac. I confess, I have a weakness for gadgets, especially ones that do really neat stuff. I loved watching the demonstrations of the various features. Very intuitive. Apple always does two things well: intuitiveness and style.

Maybe someday. Sigh.

  1. I don't know. I'm sure it does all sorts of groovy things, but it seems a bit bulky for a phone. When I see people talking into gadgets of that shape, I always think they look like they're talking to a pocket calculator.

Of course, no one ever accused me of being the most tech savvy girl on the block.

  2. Ooo. Man, I so want something like that! Wonder how much they're going to price them at and when they'll be available? The website didn't say.

I'm joining you on the tech bandwagon, Jen. I'm currently eyeing the LG Chocolate phones right now. Cell phone AND MP3 player. Life would be sweet with that.

In a few more months Dad will probably start grumbling about his phone not working well and then I can hand over mine and get the Chocolate phone. The red one is pretty. Don't you just love family share plans? :)

  3. Malia, I think they're $500 for a 4 GB and $600 for an 8GB. Yikes! Plus you can only get it through Cingulair and would probably have to get their Media Mail plan, which is obviously more than a standard phone plan.

I love my MP3 phone, the Motorola ROKR, but after a year I'm chafing already at the 100 song limit. I have to swap things on and off frequently. But I do use it a lot for writing conferences and books on CD while I'm walking.

  4. Okay, I like Verizon too much to switch to Cingular. Like I have that kind of money anyway. LOL If I did, I'd probably get a Blackberry or Palm Treo. The Treo is the phone I REALLY want but the Razr is more in my budget. *sigh*

Thanks for the info on the iPhone! Although supposedly that name is already trademarked. Lawsuit and settlement anyone?

  5. Way out of my budget too but I totally want one! And I'm not usually big on getting the latest gadgets. The bummer is the Cingular thing. I can't get Cingular where I live. Verizon is the most consistent service I can get.

  6. You sold me.
Of course, that implies that I have the money to buy one, which I don't. But if I did have the money, you would have sold me. I think.

  7. It DOES look cool, however, I don't even have a cell phone. *sniff* And talk about price range! Sheesh, I think I'll stick to smoke signals.

  8. I saw this thing demonstrated at MacWorld in San Francisco last week. It is so friggin' COOL! You've got the prices right, Jenn. The contract is for 2 years with Cingular.

I'd love to have one of these. I'm so glad I didn't get a Palm Pilot yet. This thing is a phone, iPod, and PDA wrapped in one. Totally sincs with my laptop, which would keep my calendar with me at all times among other things. And it has Wi-Fi.

Screen is clear and directionally sensitive. I.E., if you watch a movie on it, the iPhone automatically displays it horizontally, giving you a 3.5 in. screen. Very cool.

And I love the touch sensative screen. Just by pinching your fingers in or spreading them out, you can zoom in and out of the screen. Totally amazing.

It also fades your music out if you get a call, automatically, then brings it back on when you end the call. The earphones have a built-in mic so you don't have to switch around. They also made a Blue Tooth ear bud that is sleek and small. Apple really knows how to design things.

Ok, ok, I'm done drooling. I'm hoping the price will come down a bit soon. They won't be out until June so we'll see what happens after that. Sure would love to have one.

  9. See? Dineen's a kindred spirit. Yeah, I love how it would sync with my Mac, like having a mini version with me all the time.
