Seth Godin's Blog

If you don't read marketing master Seth Godin's blog, you should. Even if you don't give a mosquito's behind about marketing.

Because otherwise you'll be missing out on gems like these:
  • Powerpoint makes us stupid--these bullets can kill
  • Quid pro quo (Santa math)
  • Who judges your work
What I appreciate most about Seth's post is that they're short and they make me think. Quite an unusual combo in the blogosphere.

Backseat Saints--Buy it Now

One of my very favorite authors, Joshilyn Jackson, has a new book coming out in June, Backseat Saints. And if you go to her blog (which is hysterical and you should be reading it regularly) you can participate in her virtual blog tour and have the opportunity to buy an autographed copy of Backseat Saints.

Just reading her seven reasons why you ought to buy her book is worth the trip over there.

If you have a warped sense of humor, you might like this.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've been MIA. I have a good excuse. Two actually. Lyme Disease (both me and my daughter) and I'm moving.

But more on that later. For now I wanted to share with you a link from a new blog discovery. Check out Kem Meyer's blog, Less Clutter, Less Noise for a fresh take on church, life, and just getting along in this world. The post I linked to above is hilarious. Ah, a fellow warped soul. :)

And I promise I'll talk about the move soon. If I can find my computer amongst the packing boxes...

My very own lemonade stand :)

My good friend and writer buddy Diana Brandmeyer gave me the nod for this award for a great attitude and gratitude. How fun is that? Plus, I've always wanted my own lemonade stand and this one has no mess to clean up.

I'm passing the award along to my fave bloggers who also display attitude and gratitude.

Living Proof. This is Beth Moore's blog that she shares with her daughters. It's a wonderful mix of all the things that make up being a woman at all stages of our lives, from growing closer to God to diaper changes. I always come away with a great appreciation of how wonderfully God has made us women.

A couple of my favorite photography sites: Anna Carson and Hey Harriet have such beautiful and real pictures on their sites. I stop by for inspiration.

Colour Lovers is wonderful if you like (love!) color in all of its various permutations. Another stop for inspiration.

And of course, author Joshilyn Jackson's blog is my favorite stop for laughs. Seriously, don't drink anything while you're here or you'll baptize your computer screen.

So there are just a few of my favorites. I have a lot more that I read often. There are so many good blogs out there that I could easily spend all day in the blogosphere instead of the real world. And some days, that doesn't seem like such a bad idea.

A Brand New Bag

Sissy got a bunch of craft projects for Christmas, which is fun for both of us. Look what we made.

Here's the front.

Here's the back.

I was excited about this project because I was looking for a bag to hold my various notebooks, pens, iPod, etc. Especially since my car doesn't lock, and I can't leave anything important in it.

The bag on the right came with Sissy's kit. I bought the green bag at Wal-Mart for $2 and decorated it with items from Sissy's kit. Fun, huh?

Stay tuned
I don't do New Year's Resolutions really. I figure if something needs to be resolved, do it now, don't wait until the new year. Anyhow... I've been working on some organization systems and stuff using the Simpleology plan I mentioned before. I'm almost finished with the course and I'm pretty happy with it. I'll be sharing what I've learned next week.

I'm evaluating a multi-media course on blogging from the folks at Simpleology. For a while, they're letting you snag it for free if you post about it on your blog.

It covers:

  • The best blogging techniques.
  • How to get traffic to your blog.
  • How to turn your blog into money.

I'll let you know what I think once I've had a chance to check it out. Meanwhile, go grab yours while it's still free.

So we'll see what comes of all of that. Yeah, I know, you can't wait. :)
